(Hans Lee Richtofen)

Hi, I’m Hans Lee Richtofen,

A creator dedicated to exploring the intersection of gaming and interactive media. I believe games are not just entertainment but emotional bridges that connect people’s dreams, pasts, and futures. As a Digital Media Arts student at the Communication University of China, I’m passionate about combining cinematic storytelling with interactive gaming to craft experiences with deep emotional resonance.

One of my key projects, Better Run Through the Jungle, is inspired by the PTSD experiences of Vietnam War veterans and highlights mental health issues among veterans, showing how games can go beyond entertainment to address real social issues. I also developed a multiplayer card-based board game, Murder in Bangzijing, based on my short film, blending film and board game elements to break media boundaries.

I founded Pacific Dream Studio, where I lead a team exploring VR, interactive films, and game projects. As team leader, I organized our participation in the CiGa Gamejam, where we completed The Bunker: Nacht der Untoten in 48 hours, winning the Best Game Award—a testament to the power of quick collaboration. Our VR project, Be the Top Fighters, garnered over 600,000 views on social media, showcasing the immersive power of interactive media.

My latest work is a 2D side-scrolling shooter, Lifetakers & Heartbreakers, which shares the same universe as my short film series, Pavlovia, and is set to launch on Steam. Each of my projects is grounded in a vision of blending gaming and interactive storytelling to create virtual worlds with emotional depth. I’m eager to broaden my creative horizons at SCA, a leading platform for interactive media, and to bring new narrative perspectives to the field.
